Against the background of advice by the Police and the Directorate and State Security, there are uncertainties over the Saturday governorship election in Edo State.
The Nigeria Politics Online gathered that though the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations had assured that with the deployment of about 25,000 of its men for the poll there should be no problem there are still fears that the exercise may be shifted.
A source close to the Independent National Electoral Commission told the Nigeria Politics Online Wednesday afternoon that INEC was not carried along in the meeting where the decision to postpone was taken.
“INEC was not part of that meeting where they said security cannot be assured. But we are going into another round of meeting with the police, DSS now and after the meeting, you can then know exactly what will happen,” the source who demanded not to be named told the Nigeria Politics Online.
