The governors of the yet to be registered mega party – All Progressives Congress (APC) today staged a protest march in Owerri, the Imo State capital condemning the political intrigues currently ongoing in that oil rich state.
The governors marched thru streets in the metropolis demanding Jonathan to end assault on the state.
The protest march took place after attending the Freedom Day organised by the Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
The Governors were: Rochas Okorocha(Imo), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbrsola(Osun), Kayode Fayemi(Ekiti) and Raji Fashola (Lagos). Others were: Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Umaru Tanko Al-Makura(Nassarawa state), Kashim Shetima(Borno) and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole(Edo).
The protest according to sources was not unconnected with the political imbroglio currently engulfing the Rotimi Amaechi led-government of the state.
Recall that, a fortnight ago, the Rivers State owned aircraft flown by Governor Amaechi to Akure, the Ondo State capital enroute Ado Ekiti for the burial of the deputy governor, late Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, was grounded by the ministry of aviation.
The dust raised by the grounding of the aircraft was yet to settle when the Rivers State House of Assembly was on Monday sealed off by anti-riot policemen for no known reason fuelling suspicion that President Goodluck Jonathan is behind Amaechi’s travails owing to conflict of interests between he and the governor concerning the president’s 2015 ambition.
