There are fears that no fewer than six persons may have been shot dead during a fracas between butchers of the popular Bodija market Ibadan the Oyo State Capital on Thursday.
Information available to the Nigeria Politics Online showed that the fracas broke out after angry butchers who had been at loggerheads with the Government of Oyo State over the citing of a modern abattoir to which they were asked to relocate sighted some security personnel who arrived at the market and made efforts to dislodge them from their shops.
Tbe butchers had earlier two days ago held a press conference where they made their positions known on the relocation order by the government.
The attempt by tbe butchers to resist the policemen and the Civil Defence Corps members led to fracas.
Briefed that the crisis had escalated Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state had ordered the closure of the market
