The Minister of Environment, Laurentia Mallam has launched the application of a brand new 32-seater coaster bus service this morning at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja for the transportation of staff, in order to step up staff welfare in the ministry.
While speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Minister noted the numerous transportation challenges encountered by staff, who commute to and fro the offices and assured them that the new bus will in no little measure ameliorate these challenges. She added that staff should expect more buses in the coming months to ease their transportation challenges.
Laurentia Mallam reiterated her resolve to ensure that adequate training for all cadres of staff will commence in the coming weeks and promised to look into other areas of welfare capable of boosting the morale of the workforce.
Earlier in his speech, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Taiye Haruna disclosed that some distinctive aspects existing between the management and staff have been resolved amicably and promised that the year 2014 will witness massive activities regarding staff welfare and the provision of conducive working environments.
The Chairman of the unions in the Ministry, Patrick Kemakolam, while receiving the key of the brand new 32-seater coaster bus from the Minister averred that the era of staff bickering and frustration are over. He also said that the entire staff will do everything possible to increase productivity as well as support her towards ensuring that her tenure in the Ministry of Environment makes huge successes.
Patrick Kemakolam charged the Minister to accelerate the full implementation of issues agreed upon with management, in-order to increase productivity, raise staff morale and ensure industrial harmony.
