The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State is in confusion as the chairman of Mutual Assurance Nigeria and a contestant for the party’s governorsship ticket, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi has alleged fraud in the primaries that where Senator Ademola Adeleke was declared the winner.
Adeleke , the younger brother of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke currently represents Osun West senatorial district in the Senate. He took over the seat of his brother after his sudden death last year.
Ogunbiyi, who pulled 1,562 as against Adeleke’s 1,569, said the sorting and counting of the votes were manipulated to ensure the emergence of Adeleke and deny him the chance to fly the PDP’s flag in the September 22, governorship poll.
Ogunbiyi has vowed to go to court and seek an invalidation of the process.
The Nigeria Politics Online gathered that some elders of the party have moved to plead with Ogunbiyi to withdraw his decision and accept the outcome of the poll.
There are fears that Ogunbiyi’s action have the capacity to cripple the party in the state given his huge support base within the PDP.
