Fresh hostility has broken out between Offa and Erin-Ile, two neighbouring towns in Kwara State.Reports reaching the Nigeria Politics Online indicate a renewed fighting on Wednesday as warriors of the two communities went after one another with casualties yet to be determined.
Eyewitness accounts say number of deaths cannot be ascertained as at press time.
In the latest onslaught said to have been launched on Offa by Erin-Ile, scores of people were said to have been killed including a proprietor of an unnamed hotel whose head was reportedly caught off in the process.
The warriors of Erin-Ile were said to have invaded Offa suddenly killing, maiming and destroying properties.
No fewer than 40 vehicles and countless motorcycles were said to have been burnt down in the latest fight.
The drums of the renewed internecine war
had been sounding for the past three weeks.
On Monday, about 10 people were feared dead when the two communities engaged each other.
As at present, it was gathered that Offa, though belatedly warded off the Erin-Ile warriors, is equally gathering its forces to take on Erin-Ile.
Dispute between the two communities over land dated back to more than four decades now.
