Some indigenes of Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State have urged delegates for the forthcoming APC governorship primary election to support Senator Obafemi Ojodu.
Nigeria Politics Online correspondent covering the primary election slated for Saturday reports that some indigenes of Ado are rooting for Ojodu because he is the only aspirant from the town.
One of the delegates from the town who spoke with our correspondent says, “People of Ado Ekiti are ready to support Ojodu, if he emerges as APC Governorship Candidate for July 14 poll. He is the only aspirant from Ado and majority of the delegates from our local government will support him. I hope delegates from other local government will support him.”
Ojudu represented Ekiti Central in the senate from 2011 to 2015 while he defeated Governor Fayose during senatorial election in 2011.
Our correspondent gathered some prominent politicians from the ancient town are already canvassing for delegate votes for Ojodu in order to actualise ‘Ado Agenda’.
Ado town is yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state despite having highest number of voters in the state.
In 2003 election, Otunba Niyi Adebayo won in 12 of the 16 councils but Fayose emerged winner of the governorship election by winning four local government including Ado local government with highest votes.
The state capital has been the decider of election winner since the creation of the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Ayodele Fayose on Thursday warmly welcomed his Nasarawa State counterpart, Tanko Almakura to Ekiti State ahead APC Primaries.
