Twenty-Six persons have been confirmed dead by the Chairman of Ganye Local Government, Mohammed Farouk. has confirmed that 26 people were killed last week when gunmen attacked the local government .
According to Mr. Farouk, 17 places were attacked by the gunmen on March 22 . Some of the places attacked include the Ganye Prison and the Divisional Police Station.
Also attacked by the hoodlums included three courts, state library, immigration office and a First Bank branch.
Farouk said normalcy had returned to the town while economic activities had resumed in full.
The Council boss said that the council had already compiled its report on the incident, stressing that about 17 places were attacked with 26 deaths recorded during the incident.
He said that out of the 26 people killed, 21 had been identified while five were yet to be identified. One of those identified is the Assistant Comptroller of Ganye Prisons, Baba Musa.
Prison authorities said of the 127 prison inmates freed by the gunmen, believed to be members of the Boko Haram, 20 have returned to prison.
