The Benue State Government on Wednesday alleged that killings of its people by herdsmen have continued unabated.
As at today, the government claimed that the death toll has risen to a fresh 29. This is aside killings that culminated in the mass burial over 70 people three weeks ago in the state.
The latest killings mostly in Opkowu Local Government Area of the state has worsened the spate of massacare allegedly by Fulani herdsmen.
Spokesman to Governor Samuel Ortom, Mr. Terver Akase, said in an interview on television on Wednesday.
“You need to see what these herdsmen are doing to our people,” he said,
He said in the last few weeks, there have been a massive influx of the herdsmen into Benue.
He expressed worry that despite the presence of special deployment of military and policemen to the state, the killings have not stopped.
