The former minister who was also an aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo said he could no longer bear the implosion in the party.
This was just as the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed fears that the current crisis rocking the party may lead to its final destruction.
Fani-Kayode, through his social media account, facebook, told the world that he met with Governor kayoed Fayemi of Ekiti today Monday and afterwards took the decision to bid farewell to the PDP.
He had opposed the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, an administration orchestrated by his mentor, former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He said on the facebook, “I had a meeting with Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State. Afterwards, I have just publicly and formally declared for the APC. For me, this is a great and historic day. Goodbye forever PDP”,
Also, Atiku, in a statement issued today by his media office in Abuja, urged all the founding fathers of the party to rise to the occasion of rescuing the party from looming troubles that could usher in total collapse.
Atiku deplored what he called the present tention in the party saying PDP could not afford the present tension which, according to him, is disrupting democratic structures at all levels.
