Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic, Atiku Abubakar, and members of the party will confirm President Muhammadu Buhari’s level of integrity should politicking be placed aside.
According to him, the former vice president is aware President Buhari is an honest man. Osinbajo stated this while addressing the `Drive 4 Buhari-Osinbajo’ rally organised by the `I am Ready’ campaign group alongside other support groups on Tuesday in Abuja.
Speaking further, the Vice President revealed that re-election bid of President Buhari is to build on the administration’s achievements.
Osibanjo however urged Nigerians to vote massively for the ruling APC saying the President will keep to his promise of taking Nigeria and Nigerians to the next level.
“We will not allow them to come back. I think that the very right question has been asked; where will you rather put your money?
“If it is me, I will put my money in Buhari bank because even Buhari’s worst enemies know that he is an honest man; even the thieves know that he is an honest man.
“Even the enemies will put their money in his bank because they know that their money will be safe in his bank; we have today an honest man as president, a man who will use the money for what it is meant.
“Even his worst enemy knows that he is an honest man and that he will use the money. I pray for our country that our country will be great.
“And the only way our country would be great is if you and I vote for a man who is honest, for a man who is truthful, a man we know, even his opponents know, everybody in PDP knows that he is an honest man.
“Even Atiku knows that Buhari is an honest man; and he can never deny that; nobody can deny that; that is the kind of leader we want for our country today.’’ Osibanjo said.
In a similar vein, the Director General of President Muhammadu Buhari campaign Organisation Rotimi Amaechi on Tuesday urged Nigerians not to allow the PDP and its Presidential flagbarer, Atiku Abubakar to deceive them with their arrays of promise ahead of the presidential election.
Amaechi spoke at the kick- off of the reelection campaign of Buhari and Governor Bindow in Adamawa state at the Ribadu Square in Yola. Nigerian Politics Online reports that Adamawa is the home state of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP.
The large turnout of APC members and other supporters to the campaign signified the party and its candidates’ popularity in Atiku’s home state.
According to him, 2019 election will be a contest between PDP’s rich men and APC’s poor men.
He said Nigerians must not allow those he described as thieves to return to power, saying “the National Chairman of the PDP apologised to Nigerians the party stole public money and that they will not do it again.
“Don’t let them deceived you because a thief is a thief.”
“If somebody has done well, you tell him thank you and the best way to do that is to re-elect him for a second term.
“This election is an election between the rich and the poor. It is an election that is being contested between the rich in the PDP and the poor in the APC”.
However, governorship candidates of eleven political parties in Adamawa State also collapsed their structures and endorsed Governor Jibrilla Bindow for second term.
The candidates, who attended the campaign rally of the governor, were received to the APC by its National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
They were: Abdullahi Usman of the National Conscience Party (NCP); Bappari Umaru of KOWA Party; Elizabeth Isah of Change Advocacy Party (CAP) and Lami Musa of Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN).
Others were: Badau Isaac Sa’adu of the Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP); Bulame Naame of Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA); Frank Usman Koshihula of MEGA Party; Sa’ad Maiyaki of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Achubi Umar Jada of Alliance for National Party (ANP).
“There are only two candidates. Bindow and the others,” Oshiomhole declared.
Meanwhile, the campaign flag-off of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) in Lagos was marred with violence as no fewer than nine people were reportedly stabbed.
Among those stabbed were a a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo which led to the abrupt end of the well attended rally.
The rally, which held at the Sky Power Ground, Oba Akinjobi Road, Ikeja, was said to have started peacefully.
The police spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident said MC Oluomo, who was stabbed during the clash, was in a stable condition in a hospital.
“The said Mustapha Adekunle, aka Seigo, an NURTW chieftain, came to the rally with a group of people and were identified at the entrance as supporters of the party.
“However, at the tail end of the event, Seigo and his group, for a reason yet to be determined, violently engaged other supporters of the party.
“In the ensuing melee, one MC Oluomo, another NURTW chieftain, was stabbed and was rushed to EKO Hospital where he is currently recuperating while two other victims of the attack were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
“The crisis was quickly contained by policemen at the venue.
“In view of the development, the command wishes to encourage members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Seigo, to report such at a nearest police station.
“Meanwhile, two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident,” he added.
