There are angry reactions trailing the impeachment launched in Makurdi, the Benue State capital against the Governor of the state, Dr. Samuel Ortom.
Many Nigerians have taken swipes at the Federal Government over the removal of the governor accusing the Muhammadu Buhari led governor of taking Nigeria back to the days of dictatorship.
Among those who have expressed disappointment is the former Vice President and presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“For a state facing security challenges like Benue, the introduction of lawlessness through an impeachment process could only complicate an already bad situation,” Atiku stated on Monday.
He added while advising the police to stay neutral in political matters, “I urge the police to remain politically neutral and avoid aiding lawlessness. The loyalty of the police should be to the constitution and the rule of law.”
